dune jumping

We went on vacation with Mark's family at the end of July, we had a wonderful time, but what Eddie brings up the most is:  remember that big dune we went on and jumped off ???

Eddie had awesome form...he has a great teacher.

Grandma jumped too!

El either loves the sand or hates it.  On the dune - she LOVED it!

Such a fun time with family.

a walk in the woods...

and this girl was a complete goof.
love her personality!!

ummmm...do you really think this is a good idea?

a few weeks ago we went to the splash pad downtown.

Eleanor wasn't too sure about it.

her sister kept trying to get her into the water,
but there was lots of going up to the water...
and running back when the water spurted up.

Eddie and Dani had no qualms about jumping right in!

hair styles

Dani likes having her hair done lately.  Usually she wants piggy tails.  I add in a hair clip because her bangs are not long enough to tuck behind her ear (even though I've NEVER cut them!).  I love the days when she adds a headband.  She puts them on like a crown.

(when she picks out her own clothing - which is most days - she dresses herself head to toe in pink)

Eleanor has a ton of hair and I am learning what to do with it.  Right now she is rocking the pebbles style because she pulls hair clips right out.  She leaves the bands alone a bit longer.  We are working on it.

I just love seeing her eyes again!

Eddie turned FIVE!

back on July 2.

Can you guess what kind of party he wanted?

STAR WARS!

We had our family over for a pool party.

We also had a pinata.

It broke pretty quickly...so the kids smacked at the helmet for awhile.

all the kids...

He asked grandma to make him a Darth Vader cake...
not sure why he got all serious during the singing, but he has told me that he's waited a long time to be 5.

After singing, was presents.

Ed is now the proud owner of 6 autobot transformers.
He is thrilled.

Can't believe our baby is FIVE!!!
Such a great time with family celebrating our little man!

my last ISR post...until next summer when we go back.

Swimming lasted 5 weeks for us.  We were done at the end of June.  Oh my.  I think this program is AMAZING.  (And when I say amazing I mean like - AMAZING!!!)

We've had such a wonderful summer and I believe ISR played a huge part in that.  Before we started, I was waking up in a panic because I was worried about the kids and the pool in the backyard.  After lessons, it was like a huge weight had been lifted.  Our first time in the pool with the 5 of us, we actually had FUN in the water.  I don't think I've had fun in the water since Eddie was born.

Eddie went from not wanting to get his face wet to a little fish.  Seriously, that kid is all over the pool.  Mr. Michael told him that he could swim in any depth of water because he just needed to float on the top.  Ed took that to heart!  That boy is always up for swimming.  He actually mastered all his skills in 4 weeks, so the last week, Mr. Michael taught him elementary backstroke (or monkey, airplane, soldier as Ed calls it), how to get dive toys and how to snorkel!

Dani didn't like the water at the start and I wouldn't say that she loves it now, but she enjoys playing by the steps and in the shallow area.  She does float as soon as she gets in the water and will swim with/to us, but without prompting, she will stick close to the edge.  When you ask her what you do if you fall in the water, she responds with, 'you float'.  (she has the cutest little voice)  Often when walking by the pool with her aunts, she will walk between the pool and them.  So they don't fall in. :)

Eleanor...well, she didn't have a lot of water time before lessons.  She cried everyday of lessons - but started to crack smiles on the LAST DAY!  In the last month she has been enjoying the water a lot more.  She loves to splash and does great when it is time to float.  Her favorite is to actually be out of the pool and drop in dive toys for Eddie to get.

Mr. Michael gave the kids tattoos...they were quite excited and showed them off a lot.  Like, to everyone they met & in front of church.

During the last week of swimming Mark went in the water too.

He learned how to reinforce what the kids were taught and a lot of water/pool safety.  We felt ready for the summer.

Look who is smiling while in the water!!

Looking forward to our refresher lessons for Eddie and Dani and Ellie learning to swim to the side next summer!!
