"I'm making waffles!"

Today was my first Mother's Day. I've had such a wonderful day. The day started off with my men making me breakfast.

Eddie helped Daddy stir the waffles.

Mark & Eddie gave me a beautiful necklace. Mark said that Eddie told him what he wanted engraved on it. He inspected it to make sure it was correct.

Our table with beautiful flowers also from my men.

Eddie tried the waffles. At first...he wasn't a fan, the next bite went better.

After church we had lunch with my Mom & family and then we were able to catch the end of Mark's family party. We were able to see both Grandmas and Great-Grandmas. I did take pictures there, but I am having issues loading them...and my bubble bath is calling so I'm giving up for now.

It's been such a lovely day. I am so thankful to the men in my life who did not let me lift a finger. (I didn't even have to change any diapers!)

I love being a Mommy. It is harder than I ever anticipated...but it is much more rewarding than I ever could have imagined. I am so blessed with all the women in my life who have been such shining examples of the mother that I try to be.

Happy Mother's Day!

A Sonnet for My Incomparable Mother

I often contemplate my childhood, Mom.

I am a mother now, and so I know

Hard work is mixed together with the fun;

You learned that when you raised me long ago.

I think of all the things you gave to me:

Sacrifice, devotion, love and tears,

Your heart, your mind, your energy and soul--

All these you spent on me throughout the years.

You loved me with a never-failing love

You gave me strength and sweet security,

And then you did the hardest thing of all:

You let me separate and set me free.

Every day, I try my best to be

A mother like the mom you were to me.
